Tarot Spreads
I love Tarot. That's it I said it! But what is all involved in Tarot, is A LOT, at least to me for someone that is starting out. There have been quite a few tarot spreads that have called to me to try and I plan on doing them!
So let's discuss some spreads and see where that leads!
The first one I have found is the normal three card spread. The one that everyone usually starts off with, for the most part, this can be used in several different fashions.
One way is past, present, and future. What from the past that has helped define you or you have overcome. What is presently affecting you? And, then, what is the most likely outcome. Remember tarot doesn't give you a definitive answer. If a reader says that you are going to marry someone that has dark brown hair, 6'4" tall, and has a nice bubble butt; you're going to look just for that one. You won't even bother opening up yourself to someone that you ACTUALLY need in your life. You will miss out on that person who was supposed to be your "soul mate." So, with that being said, Tarot is more of a guidebook, you are the master of your own free will. The three card spread, when it says future, is an outcome. It is something that you are desiring it to be and it is up to your hard work, and free will, to get it.
Another way for the 3 card spread to be used is situation, action, and outcome. Let's say you have that one boss who everyone hates because he is a pig. You want to hex him good, but you don't know what that outcome is going to be, so, you throw down. First card will tell you the situation that you are in with this pig boss. The second shows the action that you are going to most likely take, hopefully. And the last is the possible outcome of that action that will be taken. Okay this was to the extreme, but you get it! A better example would probably be what would happen if I quit my job? But I figured some graphic details would help.
The last way that I want to use the three card spread is you, your current path, and your potential. This respect let's think about star wars! Anakin Skywalker we all know him and his hot older version am I right? Why did he go dark side? What made him tick? Well, we will never know because he didn't tarot, so now he is Darth Vader! But this spread, I feel, can help me, or you, get in touch with yourself a little better. A little self discovery never hurt anyone!
In the you position, it will show you where you are now as a person. The next can show you what path you are on, because of who you are, and yes, this can be a "bad" thing. Especially when you wanted your life to go a different way. But don't let this discourage you, this is actually a good thing! Because it can show you what you need to do to change yourself. This is where the your potential comes into effect. This is a good thing to figure out so you can progress in life and get in touch with your dark side more. I have been doing some Shadow work lately to better understand myself and it has paid off. Because, I know why I am the way I am and I can forgive myself. By accepting the things I can change about myself and the things I don't want to and move forward. I love it! The 3 card spread is super versatile and you can use it for any open ended questions your little hear desires!
Another delicious spread, that I have found, is an all court spread. This involves all the Kings and or Queens of the court. You will draw out each of the queens, or kings, of tarot and each of them will offer you guidance. Let's say we drew all the Queen's, after you have them all out you would then shuffle and draw a card for each of the Queens, put them below, and that will be your message. There is a Queen of Cups, Swords, Wands, and Pentacles. How you decipher what wisdom they are trying to impart to you? All you need is the basics for what their generic meanings are.
So let's say that your first draw is the Queen of Wands, she's the Queen of Passion, motivation, and energy. She wants to, probably, tell you what is needed to give you that boost in life, that passion. Let's say you have been feeling down then, so she's going to say, "hey, here's how you can get your mojo back." Austin Powers aside. The card that comes out below her is your message. Maybe it's the Magician card. Here she's probably telling you what you've held back passionatly because of some subconscious fears. She's telling you what you need to manifest. You need to just do it! Nike it up! Then you would throw down the Queen of Cups, Pentacles, and Swords, with a card below for each Queen for her message.
Next is the Queen of Swords. She's action. The card below that's thrown down will show you what action needs to be taken to manifest that shit! Then you get the Queen of Cups. She's emotion, creativity, and intuition. This could be the fear, or fears, that is holding you back, it's causing you to not manifest the passion in your life. Then the Queen of Pentacles comes in. She's the grounding aspect of tarot, for this example. The suit of pentacles is usually work, wealth, and material possessions. A very human suit of tarot. So for this type of reading, she's going to let you know what you need to ground with; so, you can can know what fear is holding you back. And take the action to give you that passion back in your life!
The tarot spread just told a story! Cool huh?!
This is another reason why I love Tarot! I do love my Oracle cards too. That is what lead me into Tarot. Oracle card reading is a little different because it can be what ever the Creator wants the deck to be, while Tarot has a strict structure. And I love using both! Especially when you need clarification in a reading. But, I will get into clarification later!
I digress! Lastly, but not least, the final spread I will talk about. Is a daily tarot! It is just a one card spread. You can do it in the morning, a situation, evening, midnight, or whenever! You will just ask the tarot what it wants you to address for the day, or at least what your subconscious wants you to address. Super easy! This is also a great way to get to know tarot as a beginner, at least it has been for me, and to get to know your deck.
Oh, and there is the Celtic cross spread! I will put a picture of that below:
This spread is a little more complex, but fun. I have not used this one as much, but this is one of the many go to classics that most tarot readers will go to.
I have many more spreads I have seen that I want to try, but these are some good starts! These are the ones that have been helping me out in learning the tarot. I hope this is somewhat of a help to you beginners, like me, out there! Below is also a link to Scarlet Ravenswood. A tarot teacher and reader! She has some 5 easy ones too that you could try when you are beginning your tarot journey. Hope it helps! Until next time! Blessed be!
