Meditation and Tarot: The Beginning
Okay witches! Time for some meditation and Tarot! I am in love with using Tarot, it is a fun interactive, life altering, visual effect type of deal. Tarot is a great tool to help you understand your life's little nuances. You can do all the learning that you can with tarot and STILL learn more about it. How each card can connect to each other. How that card can help you make a decision towards your end goals, it gives you options!
There are a few activities that I have done with Tarot lately that has taken me to whole new levels. One is 'Tarot for Troubled Times" by Theresa Reed. This book is an amazing way to help you get in touch with your inner Shadow side. This is the side that gets ignored or you just suppress. Your Shadow side still needs honored. Acknowledgement is the first step into healing. As the words of RuPaul "How in the hell can you love somebody else, when you can't even love yourself. Can I get an Amen!" That quote holds true in so many ways. I have not yet finished the book, but it has given me a basis for starting on this journey of self discovery through the power of Tarot!
Another new activity that I have started with Tarot, is a Unlocking Archetypes pathway. This is one of the best things since sliced bread, or in my case, a doughnut, is this pathway. Using 3am.Tarot's pathway you learn new ways to interpret the cards, especially the Major Arcana. I am pretty positive that I will do these exercises over and over again, so I can get in touch with each of the major arcana. The next best thing about this journey is that it gets you in touch with all the pips and the court cards. So the King, Queen, Page, Knight, and cards like the ace of wands! It keeps you thinking and getting in touch with your intuition. You put the chosen archetype next to, let's say the Emperor, and the King of Pentacles. Both are grounding energies. The Emperor is someone that knows his shit. He is a leader and a mover and shaker. He will protect those under his care. And so will the King of Pentacles. Both are grounding forces and protectors in a sense. They are leader's when the masses need them the most. And in the exercise, one of the questions is what can the King learn from the Emperor. Or you can choose the hermit, star, world, fool, or which ever one you wanted to work with to get to know better. And in the process get to know they other cards better and how they can all work together or learn from each other. 3am Tarot can take you on a journey of self discovery and pure intuition that will blow your mind! The last thing on my list is the basics of Tarot. The best way that I have found to give you the best take on the basics is Biddy Tarot. I know she knows her stuff! Just take a look at her website. On her blog she at least gives you the basics. In my personal opinion, you do NOT NEED A CERTIFICATE to read any type of Tarot. There IS nothing wrong with taking a class or nine to better hone your skills and make it happen. She offers classes to get a certificate, but in the process you at least get the hands on experience that goes with her certification process. Tarot is very by the person. We all can interpret messages in a different and unique way. Which is why you should have several really good Tarot readers on your speed dial! Biddy Tarot's blog can give you the basic guide to the generic meanings of Tarot and then it is up to you to finish. She will even give you some good Tarot spreads to try out on your own! Another advanced subject that helps you get in more depth to your Tarot meanings and intuition is a book called Tarot Correspondance by T. Susan Chang. This book is the bomb sauce. I give you some more in depth history and meanings into Tarot. This is a super advanced book and will take you a while to get through all of it. I for one have not gotten through all of it, but it has given me some inner guidance to Tarot. There are SOOO many different ways to interpret that you just have to read about. (Link for T. Next is another back to the basics, but advanced later on is Benebell Wen. Holy crap. She is super thorough and is able to articulate the Tarot for you to get in some good basics and also give you insight into other forms of Cartomancy. Not just the Tarot has meanings, but the Thoth deck, Oracle, playing card decks, Lenormand. She helps you understand the difference and similarities, along with the history between all of them. She even offers those course I was telling you about. I mean between her and Theresa Reed I think I have a pretty good understanding with the fundamental basics of tarot under my belt. I know you will too! They both have this...bomb here it is approach that gives you the hands on benefit of learning.
There have been so many that I have come across, but these are the people that have given me some basics and have helped me start to grow with learning more and more with Tarot. I hope this helps you too! Below is a link to one of Benebell Wen's amazing Tarot videos! Enjoy!!
